Adolescent and Pediatric Services (816) 792-7048
Services for children ranging from newborn to adolescent are provided by the pediatric staff. This unit and its designated nursing staff provide specialized services.
The Breast Diagnostic Center (816) 792-7089
One of the first self-referral mammography programs in the region, the Breast Diagnostic Center offers immediate results and low-dose radiation screen mammography in a separate center from the busy hospital inpatient and outpatient testing areas.
Cardiac Rehabilitation (816) 792-7087
The cardiac rehabilitation unit provides complete rehabilitation services for the patients with cardiac disease or recovering from cardiac surgery. Aerobic exercise is the foundation of the program.
Cardio-Pulmonary Services (816) 792-7060
Cardiology Lab - Complete cardiac testing is available for inpatients and outpatients. Respiratory Therapy - Treatment is available for patients with asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis, croup, and many other adult and pediatric respiratory illnesses. Ventilator and trauma care are other important services provided by this department. Pulmonary Lab : Complete pulmonary function studies, pulmonary stress testing, methylcholine challenge test, bronchoscopies, nutritional assessments, and high altitude studies.

The hospital chaplain assists patients and families by serving a liaison between patients and their own clergy or by visiting with patients and families to provide guidance and support.
Community Education and Support Groups
A vital component of Liberty Hospital's mission is to ensure the health status of our community. One of our directives to achieve this is to provide community education and support groups services free of charge. A full range of classes and support groups are offered on a regular basis. Diagnostic Imaging (816) 792-7080
This department provides a variety of diagnostic testing. A cardiac catheterization lab is available Monday through Friday for routine procedures.
Liberty Chronic Dialysis Center provides individualized, high-efficiency rapid hemodialysis prescriptions. Acute hemodialysis services are also available. We also provide referral for home dialysis training and support for home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis candidates. Kidney transplantation referral and follow-up care are also provided. The Center is open six days a week.
Emergency and Trauma Services (816) 792-7000
Liberty Hospital is one of five state-designated Level II trauma centers in the Kansas City metropolitan area. This designation has been achieved and maintained by providing the appropriate personnel and technology necessary to care for critically injured persons 24 hours a day.
Home Health (816) 792-7065
The Home Health Care department provides services to individuals meeting designated criteria who are under the regular care of a physician. These services include skilled nursing, physical therapy, home health aides and social services.
Hospice (816) 415-7719
Liberty Hospital offers home-based hospice care for terminally ill patients who have exhausted curative treatment options. The program is based on a holistic approach to individualized care; attending to the physical, social, spiritual and emotional needs of patients and families during the dying process. Liberty Hospital's Hospice provides "palliative" care to terminally ill patients as well as supportive services to patients, their families and significant others 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in both home and in-patient settings.
Intensive Care Unit
This 14-bed unit is designed to care for the critically-ill or injured patient with an acute medical or surgical problem. Specialized monitoring and therapeutic equipment is available.
Long-term Care Services (816) 792-7107
Long-term Care Services provide health services in the hospital setting for geriatrics, disabled and handicapped persons from nursing homes, residential care facilities and retirement centers. Medical evaluation is done by physicians on staff at Liberty Hospital. Transportation to and from Liberty Hospital is provided at no charge.
Mobile Diagnostic Services
This service offers mobile diagnostic testing to physicians, residential care facilities and skilled nursing facilities. Diagnostic testing includes laboratory, x-ray imaging and cardiology (EKG).
Electromyography (EMG) and electroencephalography (EEG) assist in the diagnosis and therapy of neurological disorders. Sleep latency studies are also available, along with 24-hour ambulatory EEGs.
Obstetrical Facility (816) 792-7229
The obstetrical unit provides labor-delivery-recovery birthing suites, traditional delivery options, complete education programs, perinatal testing, in-unit surgical suite, a Level II nursery for newborns requiring special care, a well-baby nursery and large post-partum rooms with fold-out beds for spouse and/or children. With our Home Follow-up Visits, a registered nurse from Liberty Hospital's obstetrical unit will visit you and your baby after you return home.
Occupational Medicine (816) 792-7254
The Occupational Medicine Program was established to provide comprehensive medical care to businesses and industry. The program offers a wide range of services including: fitness for duty examinations, NIDA certified urine drug testing, health screenings, acute treatment of work-related injuries, follow-up care, and rehabilitation.
Although Liberty Hospital offers comprehensive acute inpatient care, most programs and services the hospital provides also are available on an outpatient basis.
Pathology and Clinical Laboratory Services
This department operates 24 hours a day, utilizing a sophisticated laboratory information system that provides computerized data handling and result reporting. Laboratory services encompass testing in the areas of hematology, chemistry, therapeutic drug monitoring, serology, immunohematolgy, coagulation, urinalysis and microbiology.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation (816) 792-7060
In this unit, pulmonary technologists exerise patients with lung disease, chronic bronchitis, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (emphysema) to strengthen and teach better breathing techniques.
The rehabilitation center combines nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy as a team, providing continuity of care for patients recovering from a stroke or spinal cord injury, congenital deformities, amputations, head trauma, complicated fractures or neurological disorders, including Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy.

This interdisciplinary department includes physical, occupational and speech therapies. These departments provide care to the diseased or disabled individual for the purpose of increasing function, decreasing pain and improving memory, comprehension, verbal and writing skills. These therapies can be provided to patients ranging from intensive care to outpatients.
Day Rehabilitation Program (816) 792-7063
Liberty Hospital's Day Rehab Program provides a structured outpatient rehabilitation program for individuals who no longer require 24-hour nursing care, yet continue to need intensive rehabilitation. The program offers day treatment services Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Our Day Rehab Program is designed to help you gain maximum independence and allow you to make a smooth transition from the hospital back to your work, home and school responsibilities.
Staff assist in the diagnosis and management of persons suffering from rheumatological disorders, such as osteoarthrtis and rheumatoid arthritis.

This 20-bed unit provides inpatient, long-term care to individual meeting designated criteria. Inpatient hospital services are available to patients on this unit to assist them in achieving optimum function.
Sleep Lab (816) 792-7060
This Sleep Lab is primarily for the diagnosis and treatment of Sleep Apnea. Complete sleep studies are performed, oxygen levels during sleep, and CPAP Studies (the treatment for Sleep Apnea) are also performed.
Social Services (816) 792-7027
Medical social workers assist with the discharge planning, employment alternatives, financial information and provides patient/family support in order to help patients return to home and community.
Various surgical options are available to Liberty Hospital patients, including inpatient and outpatient surgery capabilities and a separate area for surgical outpatient special procedures.
Transit Van (816) 792-7023
The Liberty Hospital Transit Van is available for persons without transportation to or from Liberty Hospital. The transit van is not an ambulance service and persons needing medical assistance in transit are not accepted. Transportation via the transit van also is available to persons needing to visit any physician on Liberty Hospital's Medical Staff.
Patient Registration (816) 792-7015
If you are scheduled for surgery or an outpatient procedure, your first stop should be to the hospital's patient registration department, open from 5:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. This department is located just inside the west entrance of the hospital and is easily accessible when parking in the outpatient parking lot. For non-emergency admissions between 7 p.m. and 5:44 a.m. patients are registered through the emergency department. For emergency situations requiring immediate attention, go to the emergency entrance at the southwest corner of the hospital.
